An Insider’s Guide to Release Day at Silver Oak
A wine-lover's dream come true, Release Day is the ultimate wine event of the year. It’s how we celebrate our new wine release with you, our Silver Oak family. Whether you’re attending your first or 20th Release Day, here’s what you should know.
When is Release Day?
Our winter Release Day is on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10am to 3:30pm PT.
What is being released?
Our new release is the highly anticipated 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that has been aged for 24 months in American oak barrels and an additional 20 months in bottle.
The Silver Oak Oakville winery set up for Release Day.
Where is Release Day?
Our winter Release Day will be held at our Oakville winery at 915 Oakville Cross Road in Oakville, CA.
Please keep in mind that our facility and this event is smoke-free.
When do Release Day tickets go on sale?
Tickets are no longer available online, but a limited number of tickets will be available at the door — first come, first served.
When will I receive my tickets?
Tickets are will call only. They will not arrive in the mail.
Simply bring a valid I.D. on Release Day (we card everyone that looks under 99 years old), and you’ll be good to go!
Tickets are also non-refundable and non-transferable.
Is there another Release Day this year?
Yes, Release Day is a biannual event that aligns with the release of our new vintage of Napa Valley Cabernet (first Saturday in February) and Alexander Valley Cabernet (first Saturday in August).
Our Alexander Valley Cabernet Release Day is Saturday, August 3. Details will be announced this summer.

What’s included in my ticket purchase?
On Release Day, you’ll receive four 3-ounce pour tasting tickets to try our 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet—plus a splash of our Twomey Sauvignon Blanc upon arrival! Put into context, this is roughly half a bottle of wine. You won’t be allowed to purchase additional tasting tickets at the door.
There will also be live music and entertainment for your enjoyment and food tastings from local restaurants. This year, we are honored to feature Charter Oak, La Toque, Rich Table, Compline, Park Tavern, Mustards Grill and our own culinary team led by Winery Chef Dominic Orsini.
To commemorate the day, you can take home a keepsake professional photograph (check out the photobooth!) and your Silver Oak wine glass.
Tip from Special Events Manager Sally Allred: “Don’t set your glass down. Not only is it your tasting vessel but also your Release Day keepsake!”
Twomey Sauvignon Blanc being poured for arriving Release Day guests.
Bonus: Release Day guests can take advantage of a 2-for-1 offer on tastings at Twomey Calistoga all weekend (February 2 and 3)!
What’s the attire?
There’s a lot to see and do—and very limited seating. Ditch the stilettos for stylish comfort, ladies!
What if it rains?
Release Day is a rain-or-shine event. Most of the party will be tented.
Will there be food?
Yes! Skip the picnic basket and just bring your appetite. We’ll have 7 food stations throughout the party serving hearty bites.
Tip from Sally: “No stomach should be empty. Kick off the day with a fresh baguette at the entrance.”
Will there be parking?
We will have complimentary valet. There will be limited parking at the winery on Release Day. Parking on Money Road (off Oakville Cross Road) is an option, too, and we’ll have shuttles running up and down the driveway throughout the day.
The recommended option, though, is to use a rideshare service (like Lyft or Uber) or private driver.
What about handicap parking?
The facility is handicap-accessible, and all people are welcome to attend Release Day. On the day of, we recommend pulling up to the valet area. If all handicap parking stalls (limited) are taken, we will be happy to valet your vehicle.
Designated drivers are welcome!
If you’re planning on being the responsible driver on February 2, we applaud you—and you are also invited to join us! Designated Driver Tickets ($40 per person) are available. Purchase them in advance through our Customer Care team (call them at 707.942.7137) or purchase them at the door. These tickets are not available online.
There will be restrooms, right?
We have you covered. Just look for the executive trailers parked behind the winery.
Can I bring my dog?
Please leave your pooches at home. This isn’t a pet friendly event. The Department of Public Health says food service and pets don’t mix. Service dogs are the only exception.
Bring your reusable water bottle.
There will be water filling stations to help you stay hydrated.
Get excited to learn something new.
There’s always some fun, educational component at Release Day. Keep your eyes peeled!
There’s a party in the back, too!
We encourage you to explore the whole winery on Release Day. Music and food will be located in our front and back yards!
Do I need to bring cash?
Our wines (including special library vintages!) and Release Day merchandise will be available for sale—cash or credit. The food and wine tasting is included in the per person price of tickets.
Will the wine be available for purchase?
Yes! Our 2014 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon will be available to purchase throughout the event. Bonus: We’ll have a pick-up area, so you can enjoy yourself without lugging around that 1.5L magnum. Silver Oak winemaking and ownership will also be available at various points to sign purchased bottles.
